Experience from data centres and industries with the strictest requirements

When we design, fabricate and install steel structures, we do so with many years of hands-on experience. That experience comes from international data centre projects as well as from industries with stringent documentation requirements, such as pharmaceutical, battery and production facilities. These projects are handled by our Special Structures division, which manages some of the most complex and project-management-intensive steel projects in Northern Europe.

Ikon

International data centre experience combined with expertise from industries requiring extensive documentation (pharmaceutical, battery and production).

Ikon

In-house technical department with engineers, detailers and structural design, working with 1:1 BIM, clash detection and design optimisation for reduced weight and faster installation.

Ikon

In-house installation teams and a scalable partner network capable of delivering even the most extensive installations across Northern Europe.

We handle your complex data centre projects

The construction of data centres places exceptional demands on documentation, safety and speed. When you are our customer, you get design, fabrication and installation all in one place. This delivers a faster construction process with lower risk.

Experience from data centres and industrial projects

Our expertise is built on international data centre projects and assignments within high-stakes industries such as pharmaceuticals, battery production, and advanced manufacturing. In these types of projects, project management and compliance often carry more weight than the steel itself.

EXC4 and full compliance – across borders

We take safety and responsibility seriously, and that is why we are certified in accordance with EN 1090-1 up to EXC4 and ISO 9001/14001/45001. We have a dedicated Compliance Manager who ensures that all local, national and international requirements are met.

Technical department

Since we have our own in-house technical department, we can seamlessly deliver 1:1 BIM models and design optimisations that reduce weight and installation time. We can also take on partial or full project responsibility and deliver precisely the documentation that your templates require.

Installation and scalable capacity

As an integrated part of our organisation, we operate our own installation teams supported by a proven, scalable partner network. This enables us to deliver everything from compact edge sites to large campus developments. Access conditions, lifting operations, safety and operations are addressed already in the planning phase.

QHSE and documentation

We deliver ITPs (Inspection Test Plans), ITRs (Inspection Test Records), traceability, welding qualifications, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) and clear audit trails in the format your project requires – ensuring full transparency through to as-built documentation.

We know our footprint

We prepare EPDs for our own production and contribute input to LCA. If the project requires DGNB or BREEAM certification, we support this as well. If you need project-specific targets for recycling, CO₂e per kg and VOC, we can support this too.

A reliable and responsible partner

With us, you get high delivery reliability. We stand on a solid financial foundation, and we take our responsibility in the industry seriously. Among other things, we offer solutions with CO₂-reduced steel, and through DS Gruppen, we work with our social responsibility through sponsorships and collaborations with various organisations.

Project management for complex steel structures

Data centre projects are managed by our Special Structures division. They handle our most project-management-intensive and complex projects in Northern Europe. Throughout the project, you get a dedicated project manager who coordinates across engineering, production, installation, QHSE and compliance, with regular status updates and open reporting.

Key roles in the project:

Project Manager (Special Structures division)
Has overall responsibility and oversees risk management, scheduling and finances.

Lead Engineer/BIM
Ensures model quality, clash detection, change management and design optimisation.

Installation Manager
Responsible for site coordination, safety, access conditions, lifting plans and weather.

QHSE
Handles quality, environment, occupational health and safety audits and documentation delivery.

Compliance Manager
Ensures compliance with project, local, national and international requirements – also with subcontractors.

Engineering, installation and compliance in one chain

You get single point responsibility from design to installation, because we have all competencies in-house. This means predictable installation, fewer changes and documentation that goes through without friction.

Technical department (engineers and detailers)

  • You receive 1:1 BIM models and detailed deliverables in formats compatible with the most commonly used BIM platforms.
  • The engineering is tailored to your needs — from partial deliverables to full design responsibility including structural calculations and documentation package.
  • Design is optimised with a focus on reduced weight, less waste and faster installation – without compromises.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Here you will find answers to some of the questions we are most often asked in relation to data centres. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Do you deliver EXC4?
Yes. We are certified in accordance with EN 1090-1 and deliver steel structures up to EXC4.
Can you take full design responsibility?
Yes. We can assume partial or full responsibility for the design, including structural calculations, 1:1 BIM models, detailed deliverables and the required documentation. We are also happy to work within the developer’s or EPC’s templates.
Which deliverables do you cover in a data centre project?
We cover primary and secondary steel, trusses, equipment frames, pipe and cable bridges, access platforms and staircases, as well as surface treatments (galvanising/painting) and fire protection according to project specifications.
How do you ensure compliance across different countries?
Our Compliance Manager monitors local, national and international requirements and carries out controls across our own teams as well as any subcontractors involved in the project.
Can the documentation be tailored to our requirements?
Yes. ITP/ITR, material certificates, welding qualifications, NDT, traceability, CE/DoP and as-built documentation can all be delivered to the extent and in the format you require.
Do you support EPD/LCA and certifications such as BREEAM/DGNB?
Yes. We have EPDs for our own production and for the majority of our partners, deliver data for LCA and advise on contributions to BREEAM/DGNB. We can tailor to project-specific targets (recycling, CO₂e/kg, VOC etc.).
Where do you deliver and install?
We deliver and install across Europe and the North Atlantic, supported by our own installation teams and a scalable partner network for large and complex projects.
Which surface treatments and fire protection requirements can you meet?
We provide hot-dip galvanising and paint systems in accordance with project specifications, as well as fire protection and intumescent coatings with the required documentation.
What do you need to provide an initial budget estimate?
We typically need estimated tonnage or area, maximum spans, location, surface and fire protection requirements, the desired level of documentation, and the project schedule. Please feel free to share sketches or IFC files. The more time and information you provide, the more accurate and reliable the budget estimate we can deliver.
Which languages do you work in?
We work in both Danish and English – in communication as well as in documentation.
